(ROCHESTER NY--) Over 1000 protesters marched in downtown Rochester Saturday night to demand justice for Daniel Prude.

Standing in front of City Hall, protesters called for Mayor Lovely Warren and Police Chief La'Ron Singletary's resignations.

The march proceeded south on State Street toward the Public Safety Building, but was met with a massive militarized police presence, including members of RPD and State Police "Special Operation Response Team."

Within minutes, police fired tear-gas, flash-bang grenades, pepper bullets, and other weaponry at protesters.

By 1 am dozens of protesters had taken refuge inside Spiritus Christi Church which was surrounded by police.

Those individuals were reportedly able to leave more than an hour later.
