(WXIR-Rochester) For the last month, educators in the Rochester City School District have been raising money to provide meals to frontline workers across many different sectors, from healthcare to retail.

"We were all at home wondering what we could do to help, feeling grateful that we were still getting paid but also sort of helpless, because we wanted to give more," says Claire Labrosa, a member of the Rochester Organization of Rank and File Educators (R.O.R.E.) caucus.

She recently spoke with WXIR's Darien Lamen about why her union caucus decided to organize this initiative, and why solidarity is so important during the unfolding public health and economic crises.
