We Need to Reach Out, Not Look Up: RCSD Teachers Look to Shake Up Status Quo in Union

(WXIR-Rochester) A group of teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff in the Rochester City School District is coming together to push for change in their unions and school district in the wake of last month’s staff cuts.

Their stated mission includes "fighting for full and equitable funding for public education; organizing and bargaining for equity from the bottom up; and anti-racist, anti-oppression pedagogy and practices."

Michelle Sapere is a founding member of the Rochester Organization of Rank and File Educators, or RORE Caucus, and she speaks with Reclaiming the Narrative's Darien Lamen about some of the lessons of the hour.
